Predictable (Colorado Post-Game)

For fear of stirring the wrath of HG, I kept my doubts about last night's game private. To a colleague of mine, I predicted a Sakic hattrick because that guy was simply too talented and too proud to miss the playoffs. I was close: he got four points.

I will also confess to not watching this game. I've got some reasons: I was doubtful of a Flames victory (sure, I'm a bad fan), and watching the Flames lose pisses me right off. I also had a long day at work. But more importantly, I had just acquired Guitar Hero II for the 360...so yeah, I had nhl.com's boxscore up while I rocked out like an idiot.

That said, I'm not overly concerned. I'm sure we'll make the playoffs, and if we don't, I'm sure Playfair will be fired...either way, I'll be a happy camper.

But I'm mostly upset about my recent lack of enthusiasm. There's lots of good hockey left but I think I've resigned myself to an early playoff exit based on the ineptitude of the Flames head coach, and I don't think that's fair to the team. But life isn't fair, I 'spose...

Well, I don't know if Leanne told you but I actually made predictions on the next three games and hold on to your hat... it's not all roses and puppies. It's more like WHOO REALISM!

  2. Interestingly, the radio crew had Eric Duhatschek on during one of the intermissions, and they were discussing a recent column of his which showed that teams that ran the tables pre-playoffs were not necessarily the teams that would go deep...

    So, it's a good sign!

  3. haha I got Guitar Hero 2 for the 360 yesterday too for the new songs (finished the PS2 one long ago). The regulars at my place on hockey nights actually all play GH during intermissions and "building up commercial time" on the Tivo.

  4. Leanne, they had something similar in the latest THN as well. Still, I'm pretty sure an 8th seed has never won in the modern era, and no lower than 6th has won in more than the past decade.

We've got a long road for sure.

  6. That's the 'guitar' that comes with the new Guitar Heroes 2 for the X-Box 360...

That game is extremely fun... and seriously addictive...

  7. A generation of adults fervently playing air guitar in their living rooms. I'm sure Marshal McLuhan would have something rather high-sounding and cryptic to say about that.
